WELCOME
Legacy Valley derives its name from the legacy that has been the last 20 years. The gifts I received to recover and grow. Its meaning goes farther than just a business name; it resonates in my mind as something that is generational, passed down from one person in recovery to another. If you are here to find yourself, rebuild your life, reconnect with your family, or just get sober; you are in the right place. We will treat you with dignity, respect, empathy, and compassion. We can help you find yourself and connect to a supportive community.

The first mirace came from a stranger, a woman I did not know and have not seen since. I was sleeping on a bench in downtown Victorville, when a woman came around with coffee and food. She sat with me and we talked about the weather, the stray cats, broken playground equipment, anything but my situation. I asked her what she wanted, because I didn’t have anything to give her; she answered “I don’t want anything from you, this used to be my bench”. You see, she never once tried to get me into treatment, or to go to her church, or to go to a 12-step meeting; all of which was within walking distance of that bench. She only wanted to show me that life could be different.

The second of such miracles came from my soon to be ex-husband. He showed up to a place I was staying at to make sure I was going to be in court the next day. He saw how bad I had gotten and told me “Our children deserve to have both their parents in their lives”. He encouraged me to get into treatment before I died out on the streets.

The third miracle came from an old timer in the program, who had helped my husband several years before. He looked at me and knew what had happened and helped me get into a treatment center in Lucerne Valley. He showed me compassion and empathy. I got a scholarship to that rehab and I spent 28 days in the residential treatment program where I learned about addiction and 12-steps; but more importantly, I learned about myself.
When I completed the program, I connected with women in AA here in the High Desert, I worked steps, became of service, and began rebuilding a life I was proud to live. That soon to be ex-husband decided that we were better together and we have stay married and working as a team for more than 20 years. Those kids have grown into adults and are living happy, healthy, lives. I put myself through school and obtained a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and am currently working on a Doctorate in Psychology with a concentration in Crisis Response. I absolutely love what I get to do, helping others find recovery; however, they define that for themselves.
You have found your tribe. WELCOME
